An institution in Jakarta, Amigos opened its doors in 1979. This Tex-Mex eatery has a loyal fan base of expats and locals alike, and is famous for serving Jakarta’s best margaritas as well as classic Tex-Mex cuisine, including burritos, tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, nachos, beef ribs, fresh salsa, and other tasty, finger-licking, home-made recipes.

Originally known as “The Green Pub,” Amigos changed its name in the early 1980’s when an Indonesian regulation prohibited the use of foreign words in company names. While Amigos means “Friends” in Spanish, it is also an acronym for “Ajang Makan, Minum, Gosip,” which translated to English means “A Place to Eat, Drink and Gossip,” and the ambiance is true to both definitions.

With its kitsch Mexican décor, Amigos’s atmosphere is fun, casual, and makes you feel as if you’ve transported away from Jakarta. Anyone who has ever lived in Texas or California, where the Mexican influence has a large presence, may feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia upon stepping in.

Both Amigos locations feature live bands and Latin Nights for salsa addicts (Tuesday at Bellagio Mall and Friday at Kemang) when Amigos guest can dance the night away.

Amigo’s is also popular on Mondays when their “Monday Madness” offer customers a happy hour discount of 50% off all day long. Be sure to try our signature margaritas, which we serve by the glass, grande or by the pitcher  If you’re really brave, order it in the Jumbo size and you’ll be served a colossal 1 liter margarita.  If you do, let us know how you survive.

Amigo’s caters and delivers, for those wanting to bring a taste of Mexico to their home or office. And if you’re too tied up to leave for a margarita, well you can order that in too.
